rifle stock/thumbhole

Any one have any idea if anyone makes a "raised" monte carlo cheekpiece thumbhole stock, rather than a straight across the top model for a Weatherby Vanguard, 7mm reming.ton mag? I know Boyd makes the regular thumbhole stock, but because I am going to have to install raised rings, for a 30 mm 3-12 scope I am in a quandry.[?][?]

  I have never seen a thumb hole stock with a cheek peice raised above the stock. They are so high anyway for any normal scoping situation it would be unessesary. With a 30 mm objective, why do you have to use high rings? I have mounted 40mm bells on medium rings.
  
  There are leather pads you can strap on a stock to raise the cheek rest. You might try Brownells, or Midway.

  When I put my custum together I got a boyd stock, it has raised cheek. that was 15 years ago, had to do some work to sand down the top so bolt would clear when pull all the out

  He Binder, take a look at www.boydboys.com to see if one of their thumbholes will to the job. They have at least one model with a rollover cheek peice. If your Vanguard is the Howa 1500, they make drop in stocks of very good quality.

  Here is richards microfit. They are a good outfit. They smoked peyote before they designed some of these thumbhole styles

  Thanks for all the wonderful info. It is a 30mm tube-3x12, and on a regular stock the bolt gets real close to the eyepiece to the point where I can barely manuver the bolt knob. I know about 20 or so years ago I saw a Fajen stock with a super high cheekpiece, but I do not know anyone close to me that has gotten a Boyd or Richards stock for comparison. I live outside of St. Louis, Mo., on the west side near 6 Flags/Eureka. I guess I could email the stock people and ask them if they have sent one to anyone close to me and see if they could email them to contact me. I hate to keep buying things and not have it be what I want. Thanks Again, [:)][:p][:p]

  Another possibility to consider would be an adjustable cheekpiece. This allows you to get the stock style that you desire by using some hardware and a gunsmith or stockmaker to alter your buttstock for the adjusting hardware. The hardware can be seen on the MacMillan site or one of the several long range shooting sites.

  Hey binder there is a gunshow in Springfield Mo this weekend, at the Ozark Empire Fairgrounds. That is over by the zoo if you are not familiar. The show is Sat. and Sun. not sure on times, but if you need extra info. e-mail and I'll see what I can't find out for you. If you come down I-44 the exit you want is the same as the zoo, just get off and turn right, then follow the signs to the zoo and the Fairgrounds is just past the zoo on the left.
