For the last time, I want to buy this Yugo sks(http://www.aimsurplus.com/acatalog/Yugoslavian_Model_59_66_7_62x39_SKS_Rifle.html), i asked my local dealer and he said that was afuwl cheap in price. Are these guns cheap or am i getting jipped off or what? I just dont want the gun to blow up or not work. Thankyou.

  I know this is a common subject, but....
  I just ordered a used Yugoslavian SKS and am wandering what I need to do before I go out and shoot this thing. I would assume break it down and clean the hell out of it. Also, are pretty much all sks parts interchangeable with these YUGO's??? Any other information you can provide a first time sks owner would be great.

  That is a bit high for a yugo I've seen them for 100.00 to 130.00 in that shape so I would look around for a better deal.And as far as malfunctions the most common was the gas valves need adjustments,and they are pretty accurate.

  I have a Yugo I bought new "unissued" online. It arrived Cleaned of cosmoline and It shoots great even with cheap steel wolf ammo. i mounted a 4x32 scope. I get 1.5-2.5 groups at 100yds much tighter in around 50-75 yards. I was impressed considering I never expected it to be a tack driver anyway. Shoots much better than the Chinese Norinco I also own. Fit and finish is also quite superior. I have put about 300 rounds through mine with not one failure or jam (knock wood).
  The gun shop I deal with locally warned me not to get one. They got burned with a shipment of lightly used models that had not been cleaned properly after shooting (Eastern Bloc used corrosive primers back in the day). The barrels were pitted (they are not chrome lined). They got very poor accuracy out of theirs.
  $200 is high for an Unissued. You can go to Interordnance.com and buy the New unissued with all accessories for $158.00. ONLY BUY NEW. My buddy just bought one and it came slammed full of jelly but cleaned up fabulously! Warning...Clean it immediately after shooting any non commercial ammo. That should go without saying.
  Great Buy for $158 plus freight!

  I am a dealer. You cannot buy any yugo in any condition anywhere for under $100.00 and thats wholesale! Fair retail on a good used should be around $149.00. good luck and have fun!

  I would say $200.00 is approaching the high side but not totally unreasonable if they are in good condition.

  I have a chinese and a yugo and have had a bad time with them jamming when I put in interchangable clips. I had to stay with the factory clip in order for it to work. I might have gotten lucky but my chinese one shoots a lot better, almost no jamming problems. Everybody is right though 200 is way to much. Make friends with somebody who has an ffl and you can get them cheap. I paid 115 for my unisued model.

  A good used YUGO SKS is going to cost you around $150.00-$170.00 .
  I have yet to see any SKS for under 100.00 unless it's from someone that wants to sell it really bad. As far as malfunctions all are different and there is no way to determine if it will malfunction or not until you buy it and try it out. Like D@D stated the most common malfuntions are from the gas valve.

  $200 basically means the dealer is making a $50 profit on the gun. This is not a bad thing! Guy has to make some money somewhere. Also most shops charge a $50 transfer fee on most guns. So really you aren't loosing anything. In fact I'd pay the $200 just so that dealer stays in business, if you have problems with it bring it back. I want gun shops around not just the joe schmoe know nothing wallmarts. I bought a Chinese Norinko Milled, Threaded, & the works back in 1993 for $75 + $50 transfer fee, comes up to $125-$150 w/tax very easy! Gun shoots great, I can plink shotgun shells with it at 75yds!

  If it is a decent gun, and your dealer took the time to clean the grease from the bore and action, it is worth every penny of $200 (and if it is not worth it, one look down the barrel will tell you soon enough).
