Stevens vest derringer
I have a 30 cal. Stevens vest derringer tip up barrel. I know approximately 1000 of them made. Do you know an approximate value for this gun?

I've owned a dozen Steven's Tip Up Pistols...But never saw one in .30 caliber...in fact I've never heard of one in .30 Caliber...I don't even have it in my Data base....If you post a Photo and give a complete and total discription I'm sure that Someone can come up with an answer for you..

Are you sure it isn't 32RF? Is the barrel marked cal 30?
If it is a 30rf I question if this mightn't be a rebore. Stevens offered this service for rusted out Stevens rifles and pistols.0 -

If Gabel is correct, this is something much earlier than the typical tip up pocket pistols one sees, which were chambered in .22 and .25. this one is a real antique, and I too have never seen or heard of it. 0 -
First models marked "Vest Pocket Pistol" or J.Stevens & Co, 2 3/4" half octagon barrel, strange flared, squarish,grip. 1999 values: poor 800, fair 1100, good 1400, very good 1800, exc 2300
If it has the barrel marked J.Stevens A&T and has a brass frame it's worth between 100 and 400 depending on condition.
Strangely, the 1888 Stevens catalog lists pistols, rifles, parts, ammunition and accessories but excludes 30cal pistols, parts and 30cal rf ammo even though the 30 cal J. Stevens A&T marked vest pocket was made between 1886 and 1896.0
