Cobray M-10/M-11 pistols and sub-guns

Does anyone here own or have experience with the Cobray m-11 or m-10 9mm and .45 caliber pistols. They sell for about 300-500 bucks depending on pre or post ban and ive been interested in one for some time, but im curious about the quality, inparticular the reliablility of these guns. Can anyone tell me if they are good guns and worth the money??? Thanks

    Very reliable, nice modular features, terrible sights, inexpensive to produce. Not your typical pistol by any means. Good for spray and pray, or maybe with a lazer, shooting assault style in low light situations. Not my first choice in a handgun. I refuse to admit I own one just because Mark C. thinks they are "low end".

    I've owned a closed bolt M11 in 9mm. Fairly well made. Shoots well. Simple design. Good for tearing up a target once you get it on. Currently own a open bolt M10 in 45. I guard my shop with it and couldn't ask for any more firepower without going class III. It is an early Cobray or a left over Powder Springs model. Not sure as it was a lunchbox gun. ATF papered it for me and all is well Once had a Stephensville model and was not impressed with the workmanship at all. Only other thing I would say is stay away from 40 round mags. They don't work.

    I've had lots of m11/9 prebans and haven't had any problems with them. The later post ban guns, PM11/9, and the PM12/380 post bans can have ejector problems and/or bolt problems, depending who they were built by. All in all, they are fun to shoot.

    I also have a m11/380 open bolt. Nice little gun, the pm12 doesn't even come close to comparison. Had the open bolt M10/9 and M10/45. Liked them all but really like the little 380 model better..

    Lots of firepower in a small package....

    The terrible three. Ingram, uzi, and intratec. The M-10 Ingram sub-gun is one fast firing (9mm and 45 cal is 950 rds per min.) with the M-11 380 cooking at 1200 rds per min. I have shot a lot of rounds thru one and haven't had but a few jams(due to underpowered loads or lack of powder) These guns are becoming somewhat rarer in the semi-auto version, especially the .380. The closed bolt guns bring about half of an open bolt gun .ATF made RPB change the design because the semi's were easily converted to full auto which is illegal in the open bolt version. Parts are readily available.Clips are expensive. If you decide to purchase one I would recomend plenty of clips, these guns love ammo.

    Got an M-11 and M-12. Sights suck but they certainly are a hoot. Takes 2 minutes to load the mag, 2 seconds to empty it. I agree with Select-fire on the clips issue. Get a bunch, if you only have a clip or two you will spend a lot of time loading and not a lot of time shooting. They will eat a unbelievable quantity of ammo.

    Thanks for all the information guys, im thinking ill get a pre-ban semi-auto version, and plenty of mags for it. Now i just have to decide what caliber.....

    How come they are so inexpensive? I remember picking one up at a show once and it felt like it was well made, and it was a post ban 9mm m11 pistol selling for about 300 bucks. Can anyone reccomend the cheapest place to buy one? Thanks again.

    You cant do a lot with them....Look cool is about it. All you will do is try to hit something at about 50 feet. I would look for a used one, and save a few $$$$$$ I have a few PRE-Ban, Open bolts, I just have them for an investment..... [:)]

    If you decide to jump in, you'll be money ahead to get the pre-ban. Resale will remain higher than with the post ban guns.

    Then after you decide which one to get, besides the mags, pick up a few spare parts for the "murphy moment", when you are really having a great time at the range...

    Please look at my Calico post. Pretty much the same feeling for Cobray. I have a M-10 smg and a pre-ban M-11 semi. If I can slip a M-11 smg past my wife this spring, I'll go for it. An absolute blast to shoot. I went to Knob Creek this fall for the first time. What a scene! Again, not something you want for your first line of defense, but once that is taken care of, get one just for the fun of it. As my late dad told me "when this sh*t stops being fun ... what's the use".
