Browning Model 1885

I am executor of a friend's estate.He has two Browning 1885 single shot rifles which I will be trying to sell in the near fuure.Both are unfired in factory boxes with maanuals.Both are Grade 1 rifles. One is chambered in .30/30 , the other in .38/55.I'd like to know what you feel fair market value is for these rifles ( in US Dollars ).

  I recently traded for a Browning model 1885 in 7mm mag caliber and was wondering if anyone could tell me the approximate value. The rifle is in excellent to like new condition is all I can say as I don't have the capability to post pictures. Thanks for any info.

  Browning made a limited run of these a few years back and I think the retailed for around $1200. In the condition you describe I'm sure that they would still retail in that range: $1000-1100+, although a dealer would pay you less since he'd be buying them for resale. I'd put them each up on auction with a $1000 reserve and see what they'll bring- I'll bet you'll do alright. The .38-55 should be an easy seller as that cartridge is very popular these days.
