Anyone ever heard of this manufacture? Was made in West Germany. A friend has one for sale. Said it was a derringer type pistol that shot 22 shorts. Said it was real odd. Asking $300. Any ideas? Thanks.

  My references show only revolvers sold by this West German company in the U. S. prior to 1968. The name of the company was "GERSTENBERGER & EBERWEIN" of Gussenstadt
  Germany. The trade names they used were, "EM-GE", "G & E", "Omega" and "Pic". The source notes they were of poor quality and have little value.

  Thanks for the reply. I guess I'll pass on this item. I read somewhere that they also made starter pistols. He said that the end of the barrel was threaded.

  The firm is still in business and I saw their display at the IWA show in Nuerumburg a few years back. As rufe-snow stated, the products (he mentioned their trade names in his post) are nothing great, although I don't recall the derringer- in fact I thought these pistols made RG's look like Colts by comparison! Most models wholesaled in the 150 to 200DM range (that was about $75 to $100US at the time) and I think you had to order a minimum 25 units, which was 25X more than you'd want...in my opinion.
  
  The company makes a wide range of starter pistols and teargas pistols. I have seen these marketed heavily in Bulgaria where the govenment prohibits its citizens from owning firearms but was kind enough to change the law to allow purchase of these non-guns. The teargas pistols are used for self defence while the starter pistols are used to scare away stray dogs- a real problem in Sofia, the capital. $300 seems like an awful lot of money for ANY firearm made by this firm.
