Browning or Winchester

Well I have decided I am going to go with either .270 WSM or a .243 WSSM. I wish I could get a .257 WSM made though [8D]. Anyways, both Browning and Winchester make both loads obviously. I am looking at the Stainless Stalker in the Browning and the Wichester Shadow rifles. I am just curious as to what your guy's opinions are on the better rifle. If you know of another maker that makes a really light gun in either of these calibers let me know. I have provided links to the three guns I am considering.

    I am getting ready to purchase a new 270 for deer hunting in Colorado and looked a two different rifles. I need opinions on both. The Browning A-Bolt in the stainless stalker and the Winchester model 70 in either the Featherweight or Sporter LT. What would be your recommendation. I shoot a left handed bolt.I have shouldered them both and both feel comfotable. Secondly is there a big difference between the featherweight and sporter LT (besides the obvious). Thanks for you recommendations.

    Both outstaning guns! The featherweight (But I am a small guy)
    is a little hard on the sholder for me. About a box of shells and I am done for the day! for me a very thick Recoil pad!

    I have a Browning stainless stalker in 270WSM and I'm very satisfied with the performance.The only feature I like better in the Winchester is the three position safety.I have to take my Browning off safety to unload the chamber.There's my 2 cents worth,Bob.

    I don't have a Win 70, but I do have an a-bolt. It is IMO a very nice handling rifle. It comes up well, and the bolt throw angle makes it a quick action to cycle.

    The new model Winchester has a single bolt lug. Seems like a bad idea, I think I would choose the Browning or go get a Sako or Remington.

    I shoot a Win. Mod. 70. Like the 3-position safety, like the price over a Browning, like the accuracy. (Not that you couldn't achieve the accuracy w/ the Browning) My Win. is very accurate, even after the barrel heats up when shooting at the range.

    win. has a better extractor and trigger but both are good guns.

    Chuck - I agree with you when you say buy american, however I have found it very difficult to find the options that I want on a rifle from many american manf. I shoot a left handed bolt and the options are very limited to us southpaws. I do own several rugers and savages, even a remington, however I've had to settle for guns that are not quite what I was wanting due to the availibility of left handed options. I will buy american when I can find exactly what I am looking for. I appreciate your comment to me. Thanks.

    have your dealer call his wholesalers before you order. Remignton makes a left handed rifle, and so do quite a few others, but the supply is limited and not always advertised.
