Norinco Model 97

I was thinking about buying one of these shotguns, can you guy's tell me the bad points about these. I was told that the action was rough.

  Does any one have feed back on this shot gun? It is a take off of the Winchester model 1897. Thanks

  I pick one up the other day, action was(to) TIGHT and had a hair trigger for for a new gun. But the rest looked ok.

  I never shot one, but my friend at the gun shop said he had several returns on them. The only reason I asked him about them is because he had one sitting on the shelf for several months. This is odd for his shop to have a gun sit like that.

  I got rid of mine. The action never worked loose, it was way to tight. The only pump shotgun I ever owned that jammed, because the action was so tight it was self retarding the strokes. The wood is about as cheap as that fake particle board furniture you buy from Target, and about the same durability too. The parts aren't interchangable with the real winchesters. And when you compare it side by side with a real 1897, you can really see where Norinco cut corners and did some poor machine work.
  
  I guess if you had the extra money to spend to have the action reworked and polished out, and new the right person to do it, then I'd say get one, but honestly, you can get an old 1897 and have it totally modified and restored to a riot shotgun for less money.

  Adding to what leeblackman advised....
  worst pos gun I ever fired. On the 15th round the forearm cracked in half and on the 17th round the firing pin broke. As it was not worth fixing I saw cut it and sent the serial numbered part to the BATF.
