Recommendations on western style 357
New to handgun ownership and am looking for a companion to my 357 saddle gun. Something quality in a used weapon. Doesn't Ruger make one like this? What kind of pricing for something in good serviceable shape?
Thanks,
Dave

Ruger is the way to go for a good, solid, dependable gun.The Blackhawk has been around for years.Mine is going strong after fourty five years. They have adjustable sights.
The Vaqueros' are a more recent additon in response to the thousands of Cowboy Action Shooters looking for a Ford-tough gun on a budget.Genuine Colts are expensive and the Italian import clones are nowehre near as durable as a Ruger. The Vaqueros' have a non-adjustable "notch" rear sight, like old colts do.
this site is the "unofficial" Ruger bulletin board and there are some very knowledgeable people there.

Don't know what price you have in mind for your gun,but I do't think any off-the-shelf ruger would run over 500.00.I know there are used "new model" blackhawks for about half that at dealers and shows.
Hope I've helped some .Email me if I can possibly help further.

For a SA 357 you expect to do a lot of accurate shooting with, don't get a Colt or clones. They break internal parts that are no longer cheap. Get a Ruger. They are more reliable and have adjustable sights. 0 -
Is there not a DA western style? And what about frame weight for a novice and my wife?

I would opt for the Ruger Bisley Vaquero or you the Blackhawk is as good for a cheaper price. But it isnt colored or blued like the Bisley's and the dont look as much like the old west guns.
Best!!

DA western style gun would be an oxymoron.just wouldn't be "Western" to most folks.
If you wife has small hands, have her try the Rugers before buying. They are bulkier than the Colts or Colt clones...stouter built too.!
Do you not like single action? better for accuracy, for most folks anyhoo.
