What ammo for 25-06?

I just got a Remington Sendero 25-06 and wanted to see what factory ammunition seems to shoot best out of these? I'll eventually start handloading some day, but for now I just wanted to see what you guys have had luck with in the factory ammo.

  Talk to GroundhogDevastation, he's Mr.25-06 around here and could tell you anything you want to know about that caliber.

  Our best seller for the 25-06 is the Hornady light magnum load. I think its 117 grain BTSP.

  My brother has had real good performance with Winchester Positive Expanding Point in both 90 and 120 grain bullets. Try a whole bunch of different brands and see which ones are best, I'm sure that would be a good way to spend an afternoon!

  I'm sure GHD will jump in when he sees your post, but don't believe anything he says----he's a Hokie fan and everybody knows Hokies exaggerate ! Seriously, I have three 25-06's and all like different factory loads. In my custom gun, I shoot 100 gr. Remington PSP's for groundhogs, and 117 gr. Federal Premiums for deer---when I'm out of handloads ! Having said that, I agree with Alaskanman--you are going to have to experiment. One thing for sure--you have one FINE caliber !

  I'll agree on the Rem 100 gr PSPCL factory load. My Sav 110FP has produced one hole groups with this ammo from a rest at 100yds. It seems to work ok on deer, too.

  If I'm shooting factory ammoI go with the Win Supreme with 115 gr ballistic tip. Deadly accurate out of my savage. Tends to put deer down quick (I feel thats important with a small cal.)By the way---Your going to love that gun before your done.[:)]

  I would have to say for you to try the 100grain RemPSPCL as a first try. If you can find the Winchester 90 or 120 Positive Expanding Points, try them. They are a little hard to find around here. One that I won't recommend is the Speer Nitrex with the 120grain Grand Slam! Also if they are available try the Federal Premium loadings. Save all your brass and then get into reloading. You are now the proud owner of a gun in the greatest all purpose caliber out there!!! GHD

  Winchester 120 pep. Winchester ballistic silvertip 115 gr. Federal Premium 117 gr.

  I share GHD's love for the 25-06. If you drew a thirty yard circle around a deer, And told me he had to drop inside of it. I would take the 25-06 over any caliber in the world..........

  The best groups I have gotten from three different 25-06's has been with Federal Premium 100 gr. Ballistic Tips. Also running a close second is the Federal 90 gr. hollow point ammo. The 100 gr. Ballistic Tips have shot under 3/4" for 3 shots in the three sporters I tried them in. Good Luck with your new rifle, it is one of the best deer-antelope-varmint calibers there is, in my opinion.
