S&W experts
I've never seen this configuration before. Any guesses as to why it's like this? I emailed the seller and will post if he replies. Do you know what I'm referring to?

Edit:
Hint: look at the cylinder
NMyers-everything you said is correct, but not unusual.

Jason, You will have to provide much more information to get any help. What is needed is 1. caliber, 2. barrel length, 3. serial number, 4. any markings that may appear on the butt, 5. Model number that may appear on the frame beneath the barrel (you will have to open the cylinder to see them. Provide this information and I am confident you will get some help here. 0 -
I can tell you it is a 38cal.With a 4" barrel. Cant find a model #. But it dose say it is a seacretservice on the barrel

I suspect that you have a Secret Service Special. If it is, it was made by Iver Johnson. It may be marked 32 S&W. That is the cartridge that it uses. 0
