age of Remington 514

I believe this gun to be before 68 so no serial no. Can anybody tell me a way to age this rifle?

  THEY WERE MADE FROM 1948 TO 1971 , NOT MUCH INFO BUT I HOPE IT HELPS!

  There should be some letters on the left side of the barrel near the receiver.The first letter designates the month by the letters BLACKPOWDERX B=jan. L=feb. and so on.The second letter designates the year of mfg.This info is in the back of The Blue Book of Gun Values.The second letter could also be 2 letters as in NN or WW for certain years.Post these letters or look in a blue book.I dont know if remington has it on thier web site,but they do have most of the models listed on the history page.
