remington 1100 ?'s

the gun in question-1100 20 gauge magnum reciever.

which is a better gun the LT1100mag or the standard 1100 magnum ?

which gun is a smooth bore rifle site(deer) barrel available for?

where can i get one ?

can i shoot 3" mag slugs in this gun ? hastings says 2.75 only.
anybody know why?

  The LT will weight less, better for carrying but worse for recoil.
  
  The Imp Cyc rifle barrel is for 2 3/4 shells only!
  
  Cabela's has the Remington and the Rem. is much less than a Hastings.
  
  I don't know about the new 1100's but the older to near resent 1100 "magnum" do not cycle 2 3/4 shells good. The gas porting is different on the standard-vs-magnum guns.
  
  Another option is to find a magnum barrel with vent rib in ImpCyc and put after market sights on the rib.

  Before you buy, Try, I have several Remington rifles and shot guns, all are great but the 1100 shot gun, It kicks the **** out of me I will not ever own another one, I have a 870 wing master 12 gage that I will keep for ever, very little recoil, I shoot trap and use a winchester super X one and a Browning SXT. so I know about recoil.

  I have a 20 guage LT 1100 Remington, and the recoil is negligible to say the least. It will not shoot 3 inch shells. I have a sighted slug barrel that I would sell if you find a gun.

  The 16 & 20 Ga. standard guns were built on the 12 Ga. receiver... A lot heavier..less recoil..barrels do not interchange with LT-20.. or 20-LW...

  thank you jim stark and you other guys , those are the q's i needed answered . does anybody shoot 3" mag slugs with there rem 1100 in 20 ga ? i know they build a mag reciever but have only so far seen 28" bird barrels .i think i would want to shoot 20 ga mag slugs . i have a 870 -20 mag and like to carry it on long hikes ! i'm thinking the 1100 would be nice to carry for deer also .

  Slugs generally work real good with a cylinder bore barrel.... Get a real nice barrel and have the choked portion of the barrel cut off... BY A COMPETENT GUNSMITH!!!!. A slightly shorter barrel will allow you to swing it more quickly if you're in a deepwoods type of slug hunting... A cylinder bore barrel wll also work OK with buckshot at close range in the brush...

  I have a Rem 1100 mag. model 20ga. The main difference that no one has indicated yet, is the mag. model receiver is made out of steel. The 20LT has an alloy receiver. That adds to the weight, and the strength. My 1100 mag. shoots both 3" & 2 3/4" max loads(high base). It didn't handel "field loads"(low base) well, but I bought a 26" skeet BBL. and it shoots the "field loads" FINE! ...BUT DON'T TRY THE 3" MAG.S WITH THIS BBL.!!!
  This receiver on the 20 ga. is based on a 12 ga. pattern, and the BBL.s from the LT20 DO NOT fit. This is a fine weapon, my ONLY problem is I'm a duck hunter and trying to shoot "steel" shot is like duck hunting with a .410!*G* THANKS TREE HUGGERS!! ...Mark
