loan shark, I can give an example of similarly serial numbered Colt SAA's. In about 1977 Colt produced a limited edition run of SAA revolvers for members of the U. S. Marshal's Historical Society, Inc.
The serial numbers were USM followed by the three digit membership number of the purchaser. If a member bought two, the second one was numbered with the three digit membership number followed by USM. My two are numbered USM346 and 346USM. Your guns could be from a production run for some organization or company. Just a guess.

Certainly a special order, but it's anyone's guess why the original owner sold them. And, not a rarity.

"Organizations or individuals can develop their own customized firearm, or create cosmetic and functional features to customize current Colt models." (from the Colt catalogue); this would include a custom serial number. My guess would be that they were ordered by someone with the initials KBH. The order was reversed because Colt legally can't make 2 guns with the same serial number. You can probably order a similar set with serial #s LOANSHARK123 and 123LOANSHARK.
