Unless you get a P-35 that someone famous owned, famous got shot with or was solid gold, I really don't believe its' gonna be a "collectible with value" anytime soon.
If you want collectible get something of limited production or out of production. Of course, collectible could mean limited shooting and to show off or have in collection.

Pelican thanks for telling me NOW..sheesh. Some can be collectable for various reasons. Most want military versions in close to original condition. I am looking for a IMI (Israeli) HP or one made by Kareen. Some you find are HAND MADE in china or pakistan and crude as a bone and many like to collect those. I have to get rid of an Argentine compact Detective HP clone to buy another HP I want.

IMHO: rsnyder55 & Rafter-S have summed it up perfectly: the HP is the finest, most reliable 9mm ever,
bar none, & single action is the way to go.

In a self-defense situation, you're not aiming, you're pointing with both eyes open,
and no grip change between your 1st 'ranging' shot & your 2nd 'fire for effect'
may mean the difference between life & death.
Here, small rounded sights are a plus: no snags.

Also, since the HP can be safely carried hammer down on a chambered round,
the sound of a HP being thumbed back to full-cock is enough to dissuade some
    experienced perps from further folly.
Back in New Awlins, I witnessed an armed perp wet his pants at the sound
of my podnah cocking his HP. This is true.
Must be some kinda natural frequency which resonates wiithin the skulls of certain
    federally-protected species, IMHO.

But I digress, since we are now on cost considerations.

I'd recommend that you consider getting a user HP and one to stow away if you are into that. Once you have an HP, and know what it does, you really will want to shoot it and have it handy for self-defense. Trust me on this. Depending on condition and all, an HP goes for about 4-500. Really a pretty good value in comparison to the SIGs and Berettas.

I have 2 HP's, one 40 cal. and its little sister in 9mm. the 40 is my house and store gun , the 9 sits safely tucked away. The customers and students i have let fire it fell in love as many have.
