Beretta Mod. 948

  The Model 948 was a .22LR version of the Model 1934, built on the .32 frame and was one of Beretta's first post-war offerings. This was not a huge seller for Beretta and only around 75,000 were produced from 1948 until around 1958. I have not seen large numbers of 948's in this country and most of these were imported by J.L. Galef company under their trade name "Featherweight". There was also an engraved version as well as a long 6" barreled version that looked rediculous! These two versions are seldom ever seen. The relative rarity of this model pushes the value up slightly and I'd guess a NIB example would bring $250 to $300- if it is truely NIB with all the papers. Value on these pistols drops pretty rapidly as condition falls off so at 90% you are looking closer to $175.
