Browning Buckmark Dryfire Damage?
I picked up a Buck Mark pistol today at a local gunshow, it was used, but in pretty nice shape and only paid $140.00 for it. It has some after market Ram-Line grips, but the finish is nice, should be a good plinker. It came with two magazines, one factory mag and one after market mag. The factory mag will hold the slide back when empty, the after market mag will not. This causes me to think that, if the after market mag was used and a person didn't count the shots, the possibility of a dry fire on an empty chamber is increased. So, I guess I'm wondering if such a dry fire would do damage to the firearm. That being the case, should I chuck the after market mag and just use factory mags?

In theory, yes; dry firing the pistol could damage it. In practice, it would have to occur a great deal for the problem to arise in your Browning. Whether or not to use the after market mag. is strictly a judgement call on your part. Sounds like you got a good deal. 0
