I would guess if you see them flutter, you are stopping your swing when you fire and they are getting only the first portion of the pattern in the back end. You must keep swinging as/after you fire, to maintain a good "lead".

Now, if it is just that they are too far, then the obviuos choice would be full choke and at least #2 shot. I don't use BB or T shot, I just have nver needed it.

Try some Bismuth or even hevi-shot.

    I'm a man,....but I can change,.....If I have to,......I guess.

Everyone that I know who has ever used Remington Hevi-Shot swears by it. It's a little more expensive but it's reputed to be better than lead with regards to downrange energy and patterning. The Hevi-Shot is not uniform in shape. The odd shape makes sense aerodynamically speaking if you take a closer look at it. The little "nub" acts as a stabilizing tail as it flies through the air.

Having hunted and guided on the Eastern Shore of Maryland, I feel that I can steer you in the right direction. You sound like another of the legions who can attest to the ineffectiveness of steel shot, except to cripple and leave to "bleed out" lots of game. First, if you don't want to invest in Hevi-shot or bismuth, go to #1's, BBB's, or BB's in steel. #2's are effective (I use the term loosely) on decoying birds only, Secondly, try your I/C choke and your modified choke on paper with different shot sizes to see which patterns better. Finally, learn to lead off the head of the bird, not the body ! A goose has as much length from the tip of the bill to the body as it does from the body to the tail, and most hunters don't take this into account when leading the bird. None of the above applies to snow goose hunting--if you are shooting snows, sell the 12 and get a 10 ga. !

I want to thank everyone for all your help. I have a lot to consider and try out. It was just getting a little frustrated this year, I have shot down Canadian Geese in the past but with much difficulty at times. This year the White Snow Geese have come in great numbers here in Eastern PA and I really would love to get one of those. They are beautiful birds. Again, thanks for all your info. [:D]
