south bend lathe

I have just purchased a used southbend lathe and was wondering if anyone knew where I could find a owners manual? also would like to know if any barrel manufacture sells barrels that are already threaded?

  South Bend had a book "How To Run A Lathe". It's not an owners manual, but very informative on SB lathes and machining in general. The last one I have, edition 50, was printed in 1950. A very early printing that I have somewhere was priced by SB at 10 cents!
  I see them occasionally on an auction site under Industrial Tools, Metalworking.
  Get one,- you'll like it.

  I need a 3/32" and a 1/4" collet for my 9" South Bend lathe. My collets are marked "South Bend 3". The body dia. is .65". Anyone out there have extras? I've made collet inserts with thin-wall brass tubing but it sure would be nice to have the correct sizes. Thanks.

  The standard collet on the 9' South Bend lathes was 3-C, a little scarce nowadays. You may be able to adapt 3-AT.
  You may find the Yahoo South Bend Lathe board of some help.
