advice on S&W sights
i bought 3 smith's at an estate sale a few weeks back and have just now got a chance to fire them at the range..gave $700 for the lot so i hope it was a good deal,they are kinda old but in almost new condition..the first one which is a stainless 44 mag mod 626 with 8" barrel is fine right on the money at 50 feet with the aimpoint 2000 scope but the others a mod 5906 stainless 9mm automatic and it's sister a 4586 stainless 45 automatic shoot low and too the left i don't see any type of adjustment on either other than a small allen head screw on the rear sight which i assume is to hold it to the slide..do i have to take them to a gunsmith to be sighted or can i get adjustable replacement rear sights for both of them??

Usually when a handgun shoots low and to the left it means.The shooter is doing something wrong.Jerking trigger or flinching.

ATF is right. Low and to the left is common for a right handed shooter. Put it on the bench with the muzzel end of the gun rested on a block and only one round in the gun. Then squeeze the trigger with the very tip of the trigger finger. Do this several times taking at least a 3 minute break between rounds (remember, 1 at a time) and see how they sight. If they are still off, you can loosen the set screw and adjust the windage, but you'll have to file to top of the rear sight to raise the group. Don't do it unless you are sure it needs it, because "put on" tools are hard to find.
Measure twice, cut once.
