Need Advice: Scope Mount Problems on Ruger 22
I have mounted many scopes over the years, but this application has got the best of me.
I built up a Ruger 10/22; .920 stainless barrell, new stock, trigger job, the works.
I used a Leupold mount and high rings with a 6x24 50mm scope. At 25 yards, it shoots deads on, anything further out, the scopes runs out of clicks before I can adjust up for point of impact at 50 yds, 100 etc.
I know the scope is good. I also pulled a 12x Leupold off of a 22-250,mounted it on the Ruger, and had the same results as before. Ran out of adjustment before I could get it sighted in.
Do I need to shim the base, change mounts or ???.
Any advice will be appreciated, and I THANK YOU for your time.

I'm no expert on this topic, but I would sight in a .22 at 50 yards. That should give you enough leeway for 25 or 100.

had the same problem on one i worked up. was using a kimber barrel. turned out, the barrel was a tiny bit undersized where it met the receiver, and when i drew the barrel clamp up tight it was pulling the barrel down. i could get it sighted in at about 20 yards but not beyond that, the scope ran out of adjustment. i was able to shim the barrel/reciever surfaces and got it to work, but it was never satisfactory-wouldnt hold zero well...ended up sending the barrel back. still waiting to hear from kimber. meantime i put an carbon fiber acculite barrel on, and it has worked great since. just might check your fit between barrel/reciever see if its loose or not. my .02 worth 0
