AR FLATOP SCOPES
I RECENTLY PURCHASED A BUSHMASTER AR-15 TARGET MODEL A-3 STYLE HANDLE WHICH DETACHES, I WANT TO GET A RED-DOT TO MOUNT ON THE FLATTOP. ANY INPUT ON WHAT I SHOULD BE LOOKING FOR? I'M NOT LOOKING FOR REAL LONG RANGE, JUST FAST TARGET AQUISITION AND FAIRLY ACCURATE.

There's a couple ways to go 1 with typicle red dot site battery operated from $35.00- 175.00 with a 3/4" Weaver rizer base usually available here on GB for $15-35 or the really nice set up with the Tricon type no battery site (looks like a hohosite)ith the 12 moa triangle for around $325.-375. these are found at S.W.F.A. optics among others. 0 -
Leupold just released a CQT scope that is designed for accurate quick acquisition shooting. About 600 bucks, but the reviews are really good on them. 0 -
I bought a $35 one and it isn't worth $5. Then I bought a 4 MOA one for a .22 pistol. I think that it is 40MM. It has 10 brightness settings. It was about $125 or so and is alot of fun. Just remeber that the higher the MOA number, the bigger the dot. If I aimed at a chicken at 100 yards, the 4 MOA dot would appear to be bigger than the chicken. For shotgun shells and matchbooks at 25 yards, it is perfect. I may go with a 1 MOA next time for the small targets I shoot. Don't forget to turn it off, or the next trip to the range is no fun... 0 -
I put an Aimpoint Comp M on mine and I love it. It's very well made. It does not magnify but it's very easy to use. They are listed on Gunbroker pretty often. You can see what they are like at Aimpoint's website. The sight and the mount will set you back a few hundred bucks. 0 -
I got the answer. The Bushnell holosight. They make two versions. One is a small dot maybe 2 moa and a big circle around it and the other is a 1moa dot by itself. These things have an unlimited field of view and will work on any gun. I use mine on my shotgun for shooting birds the target aquisiion is so quick. I can offer no argument against the Aimpoint as it is a very fine unit. My own personal choice is the Trijicon Reflex ACOG. There are a number of models available but I prefer the 1X24 COR4:6. It carries an NSN stock number 1240-01-435-1916 and is used by special forces and other elite units. It also needs no batteries, which is a nice feature. There are different bases for the Trijicon available but I use both the standard Weaver type, which will mount right on top of an AR-15 flat top, and another with an ARMS base to interface with another AR-15 with an extended SWAN mount. These Trijicon's are nice units with fine optics...but they cost A LOT MORE than $35. Remember to keep both eyes open and look at the optics and not through them, other wise you'll never see the dot.

I was recentlyin the same boat you are but i couldn't choose between a red dot scope and a holographic site.I ended up putting a holographic site on my bushmaster, and i am very happy with it. just giving you another alternative! 0 -
well i don't have the big bucks for thoses real exspensive scopes so i got an ATN halosight for my flat top for $135 and i am very pleased with it...even got it here on gunbroker 0
