Serial number is 128### 0 -
It could be earlier than the 40s because the gun was given to my grandfather as payment for repairing a man's car, back in the 40s. 0 -
Serial number puts it in the antique range. Gun was made in 1898. Value depends on several things. Originallity of finish and parts, caliber, barrel length, rifle or carbine configuration, just to name a few. I am a big believer in getting somebody to look at things in person. Some of these antique rifles are hard to price without one seeing it in his hands. Just guessing, but your rifle would probably start at around $700 to $800. Could got way up from there.

Better check the serial # again.
If it's 128xxx, it was made (as road lizard says) in 1898.
If it's 128xxxx, it was made in the '40s.0
