ruger 95 with mixed results
Again thank everyone for taking the time to answer my posts. I bought a ruger and they through in a box of cci blazer ammo. It is all over the place. Is this common?? Should I try some high quality ammo???

The CCI ammo isn't junk. Your gun is NOT a target gun. That is not what it was designed for. Don't look at the guns performance or accuracy until you have 500+ rounds thru it. New guns have burrs, tooling marks and bugs to work out. The gun will smooth up with some use including the trigger will smooth out.
You don't define" all over the place." It is a COMBAT gun and if it will group 6 inches at 50 feet it would be capable of doing the job. 90% of self defense shootings are within 21 feet. Each gun will also have favorite ammo for accuracy. I have a Sig 228 that LOVES Russian Wolf ammo. A tack driver. It does NOT like Federal Eagle for function or accuracy. Don't expect a gun to perform to perfection with all ammo. Also keep in mind what your gun was designed to do.0 -
I bought a P95DC several months ago and have taken it ever time I have been to the range,because I like it. I also use CCI Blaze ammo for practice because it hits at the same point of aim as my defense ammo.My experience is basicly what Darrel describes 5-6 inch groups at 50 feet with a standing two hand hold,about the same as my Glocks.
The double action trigger pull is not as smooth as any of my revolvers but similiar to most double action autos I have shot,and the single action pull is fine.Put some more rounds through and try a couple different brands and please let use know how far all over the place is.CW

It could be you may be Limp wristing and causeing the gun to shoot off aim.Thigs should improve with time.Good Luck!

4-6 inches at 20 yards with the trigger, sights and caliber is about right. That is far from "all over the place." In fact it is down right acceptable for a defensive gun. With some shooting which will clean up the trigger, a change of sights (which would be TARGET sights not COMBAT sights) you could do better and you will find various ammunition will alter the grouping somewhat. But your gun is performing just fine and you aren't doing to bad of a job. Don't forget a RUBBER grip. MANDATORY to keep the gun from moving in your hand changing the grip with each shot. 0 -
I've got a different P-95 I guess. Mine is pretty good with everything I put in it including lead bullet reloads, military ball, and a few hot hp loads. The only problem I found was stove pipes if you limp wrist it.

After a lot of research the Winchester 115gr SilverTip is supposed to be the most accurate round for the Ruger 9mm's.
I have several Ruger 9mm's and they shoot anything.

ONE bullet works better than any other in ALL Rugers? PLEASE!!! Ask ANY target shooter how that works. Some vintages of ammo are like wine and highly prized. You will find target shooters checking lot numbers on their ammo and if it performs to their standards they buy as much they can afford or get and hoard it for matches etc.
I had a Winchester 52 that won me a lot of medals. I used some Remington standard velocity and found it a tack driver and bought 10 bricks of that lot number. I tried other lots of the same ammo and it wasn't up to match standards. Even match ammo can give various performance in various guns. But if you have a source who says that one load is the most accurate in all Ruger 9's I'd love to hear it.0 -

By the way, did you see in my first post I said "supposed to be the most accurate round?" And yes I did lump all Ruger 9's together because other than the barrel length being shorter on the P-95 they are basically the same except for the early P-85's.

Naturally, the best results were with the Silvertips
(super ammunition for all 9mm pistols in my opinion).

I was worried you found a valid source. Whew, that was almost close.
Also you can't find any more sources but knock yourself out.
Had they changed the lot of ammunition or guns they may have flipped the results badly. Guns 101.
ANY serious target shooter can tell you not all guns are the same. They are each unqiue. Like saying all blondes are alike. I only disagree with those that jump to gun rag conclusions and refuse to do the educational research themselves. I have agree with MANY but you left that out.
Nobody with any knowledge of guns will EVER claim ONE lot of ammunition is the most accurate in all the guns produced of a particular type. I wish it was that easy. And again it is NOT a target gun and NONE of the groups listed show TARGET competition quality.
If you ever visit a competition TARGET match, hand a shooter a box of ANY of your ammo and tell them to try it during the competition and see what happens. You won't like the response. I'd die if you handed someone a box of Federal match .22's for a S&W 41 and said,
"This is the most accurate ammunition you can shoot in that model gun."0 -
First of all all Blondes are alike. 
Next, the research I did was for my own use, so I did not save it.
But it's out there on the Web. There is more than one source.
toddwilson_@excite.com didn't ask for match ammo information, just some ammo that will do well in his gun. That is the information I gave him.
I also used the disclaimer that it was supposedto be the best ammo for that gun.

I must admit that I have to come to the defense of Darrell here. I can buy two or three Ruger P-95's. One may like Federal. One may like Winchester and one may like CCI. Different hands touched each of those guns at the factory. These three different specimins of the same make/model/caliber will have slight differences. To say that one bullet/load combination will work best on EVERY SINGLE Ruger P-95 is an instance of painting that make/model/caliber with a very broad brush. 0
