anyone know anything about the hk91???

now that i have gotten replys on my ariska here is my question on the hk..i have an hk91 that has the slim black forarm..i would like to put a hk bipod on darn thing because it seems to weight 500# after the 3rd magazine.my forarm does not have the bipod cut in it..is there such a thing as a slim black forearm that has the groove so i can attach a light hk bipod or do i need to get the wide black forearm that has the cut??

  You have no choice but to use the larger- so called "target forearm", which is cut to accept light the bipod. For many years this was the standard forearm for all HK's brought into the country and the smaller "slim line" was an option. The only factory bipod that will work with a slim line forearm is the old heavy bipod which mounted to the front, just ahead of the magazine well. These heavies are mostly collectors items now, although I use mine on my SR-9TC and it works nicely. Interestingly there was always a demand for the slim lines beacause the target forearms were considered just to bulky and made the HK-91 too much of a handfull for off hand shooting.

  thanks mark..i assume by target forarm you are referring to the wide style..and the light bipod will attach to the front pin...does this forearm just snap into the receiver without any mods?

  Slidder, there is no modification to the receiver. If you look inside of the wide forearm you will see that it has a liner that is about the same dimension as the slim line. Because of this is will pop right into place and then use the standard fore arm pin to lock it in at the front. The wide forearm will cover the entire bottom of the barrel and all of the reciver in front of the magazine well. CDNN has the bipods but don't seem to have the wide target forearms so you'll have to hunt one up.

  I don't want to ruffle any feathers here, but an inexpenive solution is to get a new-in-wrap FAL bipod from Tasco for about $15.
  
  It fits very nicely on the slim forearm of my HK91 clone, and I put a little fiber shim between the barrel and bipod clamp. This keeps it tight and won't let the clamp mar the finish on the barrel.
