Reloads in Glock 22 40S&W
I keep hearing that you shouldn't shoot reloads in a stock Glock,has any one out there actually had a bad experiance using FMJ reloads in THEIR Glock??

Shoot factory FMJ factory reloads in my Glock 19 and my Glock 22 with no problems of any kind, hope this helps. Shoot about 150 rounds a month. 0 -
I have fired hundreds of my own FMJ reloads through each of my 6 Glocks. Never had a problem, I am very careful and only use 1x fired brass. Most likely overkill, but so far so good....[:)]

Read the owners manual!!! Not something I would consider doing. I carry a Glock on duty model 22c. I have gone through the Glock armorers course and own four of them. NO RELOADS AND NO LEAD BULLETS!

Reloads work fine in a Glock. It's just another gun like the rest. It's not magic nor god like. You can shoot lead if it is HARD lead. ALL makers void warranty for reloads. This does NOT mean "remanufactured" ammunition. If Remington made LEAD factory rounds in 9mm or .40 S&W it would not void the warranty to use them OR create problems IF the lead was hard enough.
You can order your Glock with NON polygonal rifling if you want. NYPD has 24,000 Glock 19's with CONVENTIONAL rifling not polygonal.
Other departments have ordered them that was as well.
Polygonal rifling MAY lead more than desired if the lead is soft or driven at higher velocity. A wise shooter will know which is which.
A glock armorer? Is that a whole ONE or TWO day course now?
Some of the "FMJ" that folks shoot is NOT what they think. Many are only COATED with copper wash.
The .40 S&W Glocks continue with problems of blowing out the bottom. We have had a few at the range and NO it is not reloads but factory ammo. To date I can't find anyone that has had the problem with a replacement aftermarket barrel. There is a great deal of info on this at Dean Spiers web page the "GunZone." It is well validated and documented.

btw, Glock is "repairing" all 24,000 of NYPD's Glocks after complaints of failures on the range and in actual use to feed.
I spoke with a Lt. in training and they are modifying the slides
in some way and I haven't heard exactly how yet.0 -
pack rat 633 forgive my manners for not welcoming you aboard. You can learn much here. All that Darrell has posted has some merit to it. Our goal here is to help you by extending to you our knowledge either through experience or from other posts by other members. I addressed the glock 22 recall questions in a previous post and if you are buying a new model 22 you will not have a problem. I hope this will help put your mind at ease.

40 S&W is a rather pressure sensitive round, you have to be extra careful reloading it regardless of which gun you use. You can use full metal jacket reloads in a Glock. I recommend TMJ bullets which are made by companies like Rainier.
Personally, I decided against reloading 40 S&W right before I switched to a 45 Glock 30 and selling my Glock 23. This was more to do with having still another caliber to reload for than any other issue, but since I found it easier to shoot 45, this worked for me. If you are shooting a lot of 40 and are meticulous in your reloads, I wouldn't hesitate to suggest reloading.

THANKS GENTS, APPRECIATE THE FEEDBACK. I HAD ONE OF THE FIRST GLOCKS HERE IN WYOMING, BACK IN THE 80'S. I SHOT THOUSANDS OF RELOADED 115JHP WITH BLUE DOT, AND NEVER HAD A PROBLEM. I LATER SOLD IT AND HAVENT HAD A GLOCK TILL THIS MONTH. JUST GOT A 21 AND A 22, AND HAVE BEEN READING UP ON THEM, I.E. THE BLOW UPS. I GUESS ITS LIKE THE MYTICAL 2.8 GR LOAD OF B.E., YOU PAYS YOUR MONEY AND YOU TAKE YOUR CHANCE. ARE THESE FAC(FEDERAL) GLOCK BBLS PRETTY GOOD, OR ONLY JUNK? THANKS AGAIN.

Just my opinion but I am not a great fancier of any of the cheap korean bbl by Federal or most of their products. If you want a new non-polygonal bbl for your Glock have your dealer check with Glock. You might be surprised at the reasonable cost(and the probable wait).

Its sad but most new guns will have that in their owners manuals, not because its unsafe to use handloads but because they are trying to cover their buts as far as legal liability.0 -
I have a model 22 that I have had for 10 years and it has never had a factory round fired in it. I also own a 17 and a 30. The only problem I have had with reloads has been when I tried to shoot lead bullets in the 30. It will not function reliaibly with round nose or swc. I finally gave up and retricted it to jacketed reloads. I first ran into problems with lead bullets and polygon rifling in an H&K P9S target 45 acp that I use to own. (I would seriously like to lay hands on the person that stole it 23 years ago.) It would function with lead loads, but was very inaccurate. It seems strange, but I have an H&K USP 45 acp and it is the most accurate with 155 swc lead. 0 -
I had the same problem with my G30 not feeding lead. It does just fine with FMJ reloads...
