.45 ACP?

Stupid question. What does ACP stand for? I have heard several different opinions.

  By the way, like your teacher used to say, there are no "stupid questions"... I wasn't born knowing what ACP stood for, and I didn't feel it was a stupid question when I first asked what it meant. If you don't know something, ask, and never regret it![:)]

  Don't feel stupid. When I first got into shooting the guy who introduced me to the hobby told me that ACP stood for "All Colt Pistol". I went on thinking that for a few years.

  Well, on a similar (yet completely off the subject) I overheard a electronics salesman one time tell a customer that RMS (the power rating for amplifiers, etc) said it stands for really mean sound - the worst of it is that he was serious... go figure.

  Yea, and Magnum Research's BFR is Biggest Finest Revolver, not the most obvious term.

  that it stood for .45 Automatic Centerfire Pistol.
