BELGIUM BROWNING A5

I was talking to a guy who said that he had an old 12ga belgium browning that used 3" shells what i would like to know is then was 3" shells first made and did the old browning A5 use them.

  I see the first reference to a Belgium Browning A5 with a 3" chamber made in 1958.
