Thanks for the information SaxonPig.The gun has a trigger overtravel stop-- I assume this was installed later by a gunsmith and not at the factory when the gun was made ? One thing that puzzles me--the 6 inch barrel has a distinctly different shade of blueing than the frame and cylinder. Is this common? Also I assume the gun originally came with wooden grips, not the Hogue rubber grips it now wears. I paid $290.00 Canadian dollars-- about $200.00 USD-- do you think this was a fair price considering it came without factory box or manual and non-factory grips? I have it listed for sale on a Canadian Website-- email me if curious to see the listing--

rfo1... I have 2 Smith 27's. A 6" 27-3 that is not pinned or recessed, and a 3.5" 27-2 that is both P&R. The latter gun has a cylinder and barrel that are noticeably brighter than the frame. I believe it came from the factory this way. I bought it at an auction and it appears to be unfired, as there is absolutely no hint of scoring on the front of the cylinder.
Anytime you can buy one of these for less than $300.00 in US money you got a good deal.

rfo1 - S&W has pretty nifty website and handgun info clearinghouse. Will tell you a little bit (when it was made, when it was sold, etc) about your revolver gratis and a whole lot more for a fee. You might want to look in on them, www.smith-wesson.com/CustSupport/faq.htm#4.
    Best regards, Jim

rfo1 - If you email me your mailing address I'll send you copies of my letters from S&W along with the address to which I sent my requests. You can see what they'll provide without cost and decide for yourself if its worth the effort or is even something you'd want to have. Best regards, Jim
