.44 SPL in .44 Mag

Part 1. Will I do any damage to the chamber of my Universal Vulcan .44 Mag Carbine by using a steady diet of .44 Specials. The .44 is accurate but its battering the hell out of an otherwise nice gun.

Part 2. Can I down load the .44 Mags to .44 Spl specs without any danger of under pressure loads?

  It can erode the chamber over time, but you'd have to shoot alot to notice. And yes, you can download the 44 Mag.

  You can download both and the 44SPL works fine out of a 44Mag chamber but you have to try the shorter 44 Spl in your gun to see if it works. They may not feed well or may travel forward in your magazines and cause feeding jams.
  I have a Browning 92 in 44 Mag that will not feed longer bullets or 44 Specials.
