Anaconda shorty
I was thinking about having a 'smith shorten the 6" barrel on my Anaconda. I would like to end up with about a 3 inch barrel. It would be nice preserve the factory lettering on the barrel but that would involve taking metal off both ends of the barrel. Has anyone Had or done anything similar? Also, I remember reading a feature article in a gun magazine (I can't remember which one!) back in the ninties about shortening and dehorning an Anaconda. Can anyone help me track down the article or offer any advise on this subject?

I'm with matwor. If you want a 3" barrel, I'll trade you a S&W 3" for that Anaconda. Those are sweet guns, don't mess it up.[V] 0 -
Also concur with the rest. Leave it alone. Buy one that has a 3" barrel. By the way WHY would you want a 3" Anaconda for anyhow?[?] 0 -
Had one, don't do it!! I traded for a custom Mdl 29 with a 3" bbl, round butt, bobbed hammer. Worst muzzle blast and recoil I ever had the mispleasure to fire! Cutting 3" off the bbl doesn't lighten the gun that much, and sure ruins the balance. My advice is like all the others, DON'T DO IT!![xx(]

If you are going to cut into your Anaconda, the only thing you might justify is porting it. And frankly, it doesn't need that anyway.

I have the 4" barrel and it is the best shooting gun and where you point it it hits I hit a bottle cap at 40' if you must shorten it get a 4" barrel from Colt and you will be very happy. BiggerHammer24 0
