7 MM Dakota

Requesting "tested" reloding data for the 7mm DAKOTA cartridge. This case is based on the 404 Jeffries. Anyone with "accurate" "optimum" performance data that is willing to share would be much appreciated.

  Welcome to GB TG. I had the 7-mm dakota not alot of data avaiable I have a sheet at dad's house I might get by there tomorrow. I was useing 165 bthp's over 73 grs. Vita N 165 spit them out at 3200 fps never had much luck getting the max spread down below 75 fps since it was suposted to be a long range gun it wasn't very impressive, but I never really spent much time tweakin it. It would be safe to use anything slower burning or equal to N 165 just start out at 70 grs. and work up till you get the results you want. I believe 73 was the max load but it never showed much primer deformation.

  Get yourself a copy of the Barnes Reloading Manual No. 3. There are lots of loads for the 7MM Dakota in it.
