Scope options for 1187 Cantilever
I recently purchased a camo cantilever barrel for my 1187, it is a slug barrel, but I intend on installing an extended turkey choke and using it for turkeys, and perhaps installing a different choke for small game.
My question is what options do I have for optics or sights? I was thinking maybe a red dot. Or perhaps you guys know of some better options. Also do they make rings that attach to the cantilever or do you have to instal some other type of base.
Thanks Pa.

The biggest problem with a cantilever mount is that the scope sits pretty far up on the gun so you need something with long eyerelief. Thats one reason why you hear about people using red dots on shotguns. There is nothing wrong with red dots I own a few but on my turkey gun I like a magnified scope. Bushnell is putting a new scope out on the mareket this spring with a 6" eyerelief that should work great on your gun. It was designed specifically for cantilever mounts. 0
