COLT OR SMITH 22 REVOLVER??
I SOLD MY RUGER 22 CONVERTABLE BECAUSE IT DID NOT FIT MY HAND, NOW I'M HAVING WITHDRAWLS, WHAT DO YOU GUY'S RECOMEND FOR A 22 REVOLVER? THANKS IN ADVANCE FOR ANY HELP.

A model 17 S&W would be my choice of what is being made. If you want a used pistol, I would also look for a Colt Officers Target. Colt is not making any 22 revolvers at this time. 0 -

Mod.17 K-22 8 3/8 Targ. Trig.,Targ. Ham. They come with Neoprean Grip. On the used market 250.00 to 400.00. Hard to beat the quality for the price. And when you find the ammo it likes the accuracy is great. My 2 cents. Good Luck.

The Colt Officers Model Match is a great choice. It will probably be expensive compared to a Smith. I have both and I shoot the Smith 617 more because the Colt is more of a collector. That being said I sure like the way the Colt feels. I think I am going to shoot it more! 0 -
How about a Colt Trooper Mk III? These are readily available at reasonable cost. 0 -

What about the Taurus M94? Inexpensive, accurate and reliable. My wife loves hers, and I really enjoy shooting it too. 9-shot cylinder is nice!

I have a 6" nickle Colt Diamondback 22 and find the grips a little small and I do not have very large hands. I find the S&W Mod 17 w/ target grips fits much better. 0 -
The range of revolvers available, as illustrated by many of the suggestions, is so broad that you need to specify a primary use and price range before relevant suggestions can be made. Suggestions for a target revlover will be much different from suggestions for a kit gun, and suggestions from the pool of collector revolvers will be much different from the pool of current production revolvers, etc.. However, if you are looking to replace a Ruger convertable, I assume you are not looking for a collector grade target revolver, but rather a plinker. If that is the case, cost will dictate the suggestions. What do you want to spend? 0 -

I am not sure from chuck's last post whether he will be looking for a Smith single action as well as a Colt single action. I am not sure what Smith he would find in single action, unless he means a rare K-22 single action, or an antique Tip-Up.
As far as Colt single actions being overpriced for what you get, I certainly disagree with that statement. When you buy a Colt single action, you get the real thing, the brand associated with the "cowboy-style" single action revolver. The quality of a Colt Peacemaker (probably the easiest to find of .22 single action Colts) is very high, as is the demand, so the price is relatively high.
However, I am at a loss as to why chuck would be seeking a Colt single action .22 when he did not like the way a convertable Ruger fit his hand. The Ruger and Colt will be nearly identical in feel, except later Rugers often have chunky, fat wood stocks, whereas the Colt will have the traditional "hard rubber" type stocks, which are much slimmer.
