Beretta 92 .22 Conversion Kit

Any opinions on which .22 Conversion kit I should get for my Beretta 92FSS, the Ciener or the Beretta factory kit? Value vs. quality?

  This is a tough call. I actually ran across Mr. Ciener at the Beretta display at the IWA Show in Nuremburg in 1998. He was looking very closely at the prototype Beretta conversion kit which was then on display. He felt he could do as good or better for less money. The factory kit has a few advantages in that it can be used on the full range of 92 pistols- the Ciener will not work on my Brigadier. The factory kit also has an adjustable rear sight and the frame mounted safety. The Ciener has neither so you have to decide if these features are worth the extra money. I went ahead and purchased a kit from Mr. Ciener and I have nothing but good things to say about the kit and his other products, which are all top notch. His supressors are the best ever made in my opinion. I have not tried the Beretta factory kit so I have no means of comparison. The Ciener kit was easy to instal and really adds a lot of fun to the pistol.

  I, too, can recommend the Ciener product. Excellent craftmanship, and accurate results. I have never seen the Beretta version, so I can make no comment. For the Ciener, the absence of a decocker can be a hazard, if you are accustomed to having one, but common sense and good range safety practices should always apply.

  Thanks for the replies. Does Ciener offer an adjustible rear sight as an option? Must be a real liability for Ciener to offer a slide without a safety mechanism? Hmmm....for the difference of $75.00, might just be worthwhile to explore the Beretta option a bit further...anyone out there with a Beretta conversion? I wonder if the Beretta kit has a better re-sale value? Beretta also offers the mag loader for whatever that's worth...

  The Ciener product is made of anodized aircraft aluminum, very light. I don't know about the Beretta product, is it steel? There's no need for a mag loader for a .22LR, the spring is very soft. An adjustable sight would be nice, but the lack of a safety is not a handicap, if you practice good range safety. I would never store my .22 conversion loaded anyway; if I decided to keep my Beretta loaded for self-defense, I'd pop the .40 cal slide back on.
