New Redfields....any experiences?

Does anybody have any experience with the new Redfield scopes? I have an old 6x18 that I got in 1976. It has a problem with parallex and when I called about having it repaired, I got an offer to trade it in for a new Redfield product. For 103.00 and the old scope I can get a new 6x18 Redfield Golden Five Star. Just have not seen any of their new stuff and was wondering if it's as good a quality as the old Redfield was years ago.   What kind of warranty does it have? Make them fix it, or make them give you that new scope free of charge.

  ruger270man, The original Redfield company is no more so there is no warranty on old Redfields! They were bought by the company that makes Simmons, Weaver.

  I had an older Redfield that fogged up. Seemed like an easy repair, just recharge. They wouldn't fix it, but they did offer to sell me a new Redfield at a more than resonable price. That also meant trading in the old one. I took the offer and have been pleased with the new product!!! Warren

  GD is correct, the old Redfield company folded and the new company (Blount?) does not do warrenty work on old scopes. Your choices are to take their offer, or toss it and buy some other new scope. For $100 and your old scope, I would give 'em a try.

  Hey GD, I bought one of those new Redfield-widefields in 3x9 last season. Seems to be real nice. I had been using an old fixed 4x Redfield on a 270 BDL and just wanted to change it over to an adjustable X. Have had no problems with it sofar, also comes with lifetime warranty![:p]

  Groundhog Devastation, do you like the old Redfield? It might be worth finding out if an independant repair shop could fix the parallax problem.

  i have that golden five star it a good scope better then my old bushnell not as simple though..its gt a built in range finder. will send a pic off to ya'if you want it

  The new Redfield is owned by Leupold, so you can be sure that they've borrowed Leupold's expertise in making a solid line of optics.
  
  I have a Redfield Revolution 2x7 Accurange that I currently have on my Marlin .44 lever gun for deer hunting in Indiana, and it is probably one of the best scopes I've owned, next to my Luepold Vari-X II. Leupold quality, minus the price. Plus, they offer a lifetime manufacturer's warranty for the life of the original purchaser. Not too shabby in my opinion!

  You are answering an 8 year old question? Redfield has changed ownership twice in those years. Produced by Leupold is no guarantee any more.

  Yes, I had the 'new' 3.5x10. I sold it to my counterpart, ( my daughters FIL) I liked it, and when he looked through it he liked it. So, when he bought one of my rifles he asked that that scope be put on it. It had been on a couple rifles I owned and worked well. I had not taken it hunting so no torture testing. But, in misty weather it didn't fog up. After shooting hours we could still see better with it than we could with the naked eye.
  
  I'll say it's a good scope for the money. However, don't think that their $200 scope is going to outclass a good $500-$600 or more scope.
