Browning A5 barrel length

I know this question probably will evoke a grin, but . . .

How do you measure the length of the barrel? Is it form the muzzle to where it meets the receiver, or the full length of the barrel when it is disconnected from the receiver? Do you include the adjustable choke?

Thanks for educating a newbie.

  Put a rod down the barrel to the closed bolt face and measure .
  
  I WOULD RATHER BE DUCK HUNTING.
