S&W Sigma magazines and interchangeability
This one's a two parter.
1. Are the Sigma .40 mags interchangeable for the 9mm mags? In a Springfield XD the .40 mags are the equivalent of hi-caps for a 9. (Yeah, I know that high caps are legal, but have you seen the difference in prices between 9 and .40 mags?)
2. Are the barrels, springs, interchangeable to make the sigma 9 a sigma .40 or, possibly, a .357 SIG? Will the slides also have to change because of the breechface? I believe it does on a M92/96.
Help is greatly appreciated.

S&W actually designed the mag wells slightly differently between the 2 calibers. You can't swap them back and forth. If memory serves, the 9mm will go up into the 40, but the 40 won't go into the 9mm. When the 9 is in the 40 it is loose and sloppy and would pull out if pressure was applied. I think the slides will interchange on the frames, but with the mag well dimensions different, it is irrelevant. I have plenty of the factory hi-cap 40 Sigma 15rd mags available. They run under $30. 0 -
To Irarmsx,
Thanks for the information. Would it be more feasible to just purchase another Sigma in .40 if I want a .40 or .357 sig option?0 -
That would probably be the best way to go in this case. 0 -

I don't think you'll have an easy job of finding a Sigma .357 Sig made by S&W as they only made a small amount.I've heard there are some barrel manufacturers making .357 Sig barrels that you Can install in a .40 Sigma, the mags are the same. Here's a picture of a S&W .357 Sig.
