colt pocket .31 caliber "1849"
I have a 1849 Colt Pocket Revolver in .31 caliber. It has all matching serial numbers. I would like to know the year it was actually manufactured. The serial number is 47506. Can anyone supply this information for me? I would greatly appreciate it. Also, are the lower serial numbered ones more valuable?

Do not have access to my books at home but I believe it was made between 1862 & 63. You can go here and type in the serial numbers and check the results, http://armscollectors.com/srs/lookup_coltperc.php also check out their website it's full of info.

I have seen one for sale online with serial number 48624 and they said it was manufactured in 1852. My colt is serial # 47506. Would'nt my colt have been before 1852?

Yes - 1852 for sure.
As to value - no, lower numbers are not necessarily more valuable. Condition is the main driver of value, followed by any special features such as engraving, ivory grips, scarce variant etc.
