Best AK47 mags?
A friend of mine's wife gave him an Aresnal NV SA M7 AK47 for Christmas.
What are the best made magazines for it? He's wanting to buy some 30 round mags, but doesn't know which ones are the better quality.

poly-tec is the best i have used, not because of reliability but it has a stainless follower. but i have never heard of any problems with any ak mags. i use the bulgarian $7 mags and they work great and i shoot alot. redman 0 -
Hey there RJ,
Just about the best after market mags that I have used for-MINI 14-SKS-AR 15-AK 47 etc... Are precision mags. They will usually run about $35-$45 ea. but are well worth it. They use heavy gauge steel.
However you should keep in mind what redman said. most aftermarket ak mags will work just fine, even the cheap ones.

i have russian, bulgarian, hungarian.romanian and chinese and none has ever failed...some look a little different but all function flawless..i run them through a romanian sar and a chinese mak and a hungarian sa-85m 0 -
what's already been said...all will work
But: Waffle mags are the coolest looking and totally indestructable.0 -
The best AK mags are the ones built by Communists. As long as you don't buy American made AK mags you will be fine.
HKman, you are spending $35 on AK mags??? What are you smoking?
Not too long ago I bought six Polish mags for that which have been flawless.

Drobs,
Maybe you should read my post again, That is if your not too busy smokin yourself![:o)]
It simply says the best after market mags I have found.(usually not applied to AK's)
BUT YOU GO AHEAD AND BUY A MAG FOR A MINI-14 OR AN MP-5 OR A PSG1 FOR $10-$15 BUCKS AND SEE WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU NEED THE RELIABILITY!!![:o)]
Unlike some people, I give people advise that I would want if I were in their shoes. I use what works. If I can get away with spending $15 on a mag I will, but I won't sacrafice reliability for lowest price.
HAVE A NICE DAY![:)]

Notice the title of this thread is Best AK47 mags. Telling someone they need to spend $35 on an AK mag is flat out wrong!!!

the cheapest damn ones possible..
but honestly, the polymer bulgarian waffles are nice, the waffle pattern adds strength, yet theyre still lighter than the steel ones.. not that weight matters when you got 30 rounds of 762 loaded up in there..

i was always a fan of the polish synthetic , but any commi block mag is good
the thing that scares me is that we could be living in someone else's own reality0 -
Any Communist-made magazine will work. I hate how the damn things have a penchant for rust at times, so the synthetic Polish ones work great too. $35 for an AK magazine? I'm with Drobs on this one! You gotta be smoking some stink-bud if you're paying that. That's have the price of a Romanian 75-round drum for goodness sakes!

There is a theory to buying AK mags. Buy at least 5 preferably 10 mags at a time. Make sure you completely disasseble and clean the mags. Run a rag through the mags bodies, Wipe excess junk off the springs. Re-oil with a light coat of your favorite lube. Test all mags at the range.
