    The 788 bolt was a little more prone to breakage than the 78's were.
    They are all silver soldered on unless they are a one piece bolt, and remington dont do that.
    The 788 has a better lock time than the 78, and less locking lug engagment.
    The 78 was only made for about 6 years, and had cheaper uncheckered wood than the 700.
    The 788 seems to be worth more than a 78 [:D]

    Gun control is hitting what your aiming at.
