New fore end...anyone?
Kinda sick about this one...
I'm out in Illinois, visiting my family for Christmas. My brother and I shot clays for half the morning. Towards the end of the session, I noticed the wood getting loose on my gun - flipped it over, and the fore end split completely in half. Upon further examination, one of the 2 screws holding it to the gun was crossthreaded, and had broken off without my knowledge. That gave the wood just enough freeplay to split from the successive recoils...
DANG IT!![}:)][:(]
Anyone with any good ideas? I'm looking for a replacement, so any help would be great. I'm going to get it repaired, but I'd sure like to find another one, and re-tap the screws....
On a brighter note, we stopped this afternoon at a local gun shop which had just opened. Started talking to the owner, and he pulled out his acquisition from an estate sale last week....
Mint 1903 Springfield - 1942 USMC stamped - parkerizing was absolutely flawless, as was the bore. Worked the action a few times, but he informed us it wasn't for sale. [8D] Good for him - beautiful gun.

The 16ga. forend will work, you may have to open the barrel channel up slightly.
