Henry Survival Rifle Jams
I got my Son a Survival Rifle for Christmas. We went out to shoot it today and had some problems. Rifle came with 2 magazines. Mag #1 will not feed last cartridge if loaded with the maximum 8. If you only load 7 it seems to work ok. Mag #2 jams on every 2nd cartridge (even if you only load 2). I had some Rem HPs and some Win White box .22 LR. Both ammos acted the same. The lead nose of the cartridge would catch the upper edge of the chamber in most all cases. Would it be OK to polish the upper inside of the chamber ? Any help would be muchly appreciated. By the way, the rifle was purchased slightly used. Thanks, Don

Welcome to the wide wonderful world of Henry survival rifles. There is a simple solution. Do not walk but rather RUN as fast as possible to the nearest gun show and dump it for whatever you can get. I bought one of those pieces of s%# and it jammed the same way. I sent it back to the factory under warranty and it still didn't work. I posted the same plea for help you did and got the same response as I'm giving you.
Okay there's one exception to my tag line....

You can deburr & polish the chamber edge only slightly on 22RF chambers or the cases will bulge. I don't know that chamber polishing will address your problem.
You could look at slightly reforming the magazine feed lips so as to get the bullets pointed lower toward the barrels' feed ramp.0 -
I think V35 has made the correct call....If You have a magazine that functions with 7 rounds.....Leave it be...Thats as good as its gonna get...! Playing with Magazine Ears is an Art....Once in awhile You can luckout and get a defective Mag to Feed.......My advice is to play with the defective Mag, it can't be much worse....but don't get over zellis with the pliers...I wish You Well.............

If your that dissatisfied I would call Henry and ask to speak to one of the higher up guys there. They have better customer service than anyone I know. I had the VP of the company call us once to make sure that a gun we had repaired for a customer was OK . They would probably send you another gun or something else to replace it. Try calling or writing a nice letter .
God gave us all a gift. Have you found yours yet ?0 -
Thanks guys! I think I will write or email Henry & see what they think about the problem. If that doesn't work I will try calling the powers that be. -Don
