Experimental AK Magazines?

I have a couple of AK 47 magazines that I'm told were made by Polytech and imported by KFS as prototype magazines that for whatever reasons were never made in any quantity but for the prototypes. These magazines do not have the usual steel plates welded on at the top of the sides of the magazine but have raised square shapes that are formed from the actual magazine body instead. Has anybody ever seen or heard of any AK magazines like this before? I can take a picture of them if needed and email it to anybody who wants to see what they look like. Thanks.
