Savage rifle models
Hi, looking for some good, cheap rifles for a friend. Is the Savage 110 model good. Is there a big difference between them and the other models. Thanks for the help.

From what I have read they are very accurate. I do not care for their looks but that is just my opinion.
If I were buying another rifle I would look at the Winchester Model 70 .

the savage 110 is a great gun for the money. i've got 2 110's and one 111 in 30-06, i got the 110 in 30-06 first as an extra rifle but decided to get another after using it. for their price they work great.

Hey Travis, My cousin has a 110 in 22-250 with a fluted heavy barrel. He shoots silver dollers @ 200yds with it, and he shoots groundhogs all day from 200-300yds. It is a very accurate rifle. I hate to say it but it will do pretty close to what my rem 700 will do.
Just keep in mind, alot of it has to do with the shooter. I used to have a 110 in .308 (light barrel) it was very reliable but not accurate enough for what I wanted. I like to keep'em under an inch at 100m and it just would'nt do it, but it is a great hunting rifle.

It's a great low priced rifle. They are known to be very accurate out of the box. What you won't find are any extra's per se. They put the money where accuracy and function count..nothing else. Cheap looking ugly stocks and stamped metal accesories. But, with the 10FV and 12FV you can shoot clover leafs right out of the box. The 110's will shoot hunting accuracy easily 1.5 MOA. -Good luck.

I have 110s in .243 and .308. Yes, they are homely, but they are what I can afford. The .308 will shoot MOA with Remington factory ammo; the .243 will shoot a ragged hole at 100 yards with handloads. I can't do that consistantly, but I have a shooting buddy that is a heck of a lot better than I am. Every time he shoots a cloverleaf with the .243, he wants to buy the gun. 0 -
I have a 112 in 25-06. I hunt the Coues deer in Arizona. Hundred yard groups mean absolutly nothing. Lots of guns shoot 1 in. groups at 100. Unacceptalble!!! My Savage shoots 5 shot groups into 2.5 at 400 where it is zeroed. And it's as is out of the box. I have a 4.5 - 14 Burris Bullistic Plex on it. Works perfectly from 100 to 600 yds. I have to pass lots and lots of shots over 600 here in the high desert. 0 -

I have said this here before, but I will say it again.
A buddy of mine suggested I get a Savage 10FP to try out. I picked up a new one in the box on a trade - 24 inch barrel and accu-trigger in .223. The first day I shot it I fell in love with it. I went straight from the range to the gun shop and bought the same model in a .308. I have never looked back with regret. I love them.
They are not an M21 (XM21 when I carried it), M24 or M40, but I would (and do) quickly put it up against M70s. You won't go wrong.

Savages are probably the best "bang for the buck" bargain out there.
Not as pretty or as well finished as some of the more expensive rifles, but where it counts, in ruggedness and accuracy, you can't go wrong with a Savage.0 -
the bottom line is it's a good gun for the money, I have one that I use every year for deer season, who knows maybe this year I might even get to shoot a deer with it....

i dont know about the newer models but i love my "99"
as my dad said about it "if you can see it you can hit it with this one"
now if i could just find ammo for it any more, its .303 sav.[:(!]0
