Browning A5 question

I have an A5 Standard weight in 16 Ga. Serial number is 10475 and it has the old type safety that moves forward and back in the triggerguard. I think it is pre-WWII but would appreciate someone giving me the date of manufacture. The 25 1/2" bbl is cyl bore, marked ***. This seems unusual. Comments?

    I am trying to identify an old A5 that seems to have unusual markings (or lack thereof). There is no writing where "light twelve" or "magnum" should be written, only engraving. Also, the barrel says *special steel -12 gauge 2 3/4 shells, again no A5 markings. Made in belgium.

    Any ideas?

    What you have is a standard weight A5 Browning. This model was made for years before the Light Twelve and Magnum models were introduced, thus it was not necessary to inscribe it with "Standard Weight". The * indicates full choke.

    Thanks for the info. Any idea what years the standard model was made? I'm not sure where to find the serial number, but on the bottom of the receiver is 3M and 7581.

    Your A5 was 7581st standard weight 12 gauge made in the year 1963.
