.357 magnum laser sight question

My father bought a laser sight, beamshot 1000, for his Colt Trooper .357 magnum with 6" barrel. Neither of us knew a whole lot at the time about it, but was told it should withstand the recoil of the .357. The problem is securing the the sight. It is currently held in place with a 2 part clamp that is connected on the bottom with screws. That configuration was recommended by beamshot and made for a .357 supposedly. As he shoots the revolver, the sight slowly slips down the barrel. Does anyone know how to secure the sight so that it doesnt move down the barrel? We thought maybe a thin piece of rubber on the barrel would help, but who knows. Anyone suggestions are greatly welcomed.

    It won't be pretty, but I "fixed" the laser mount on my GP100 by slipping a piece of safety wire between the cylinder and frame, and wrapped it around the "mount" twice. Looks like some left-handed Okie gunsmith did the work, but it stays right where it is.

    I'd use Permatex auto gasket sealer. When you want to remove it, soak it with solvent & it will come off.

    Of course, I took off my laser sight. I figure that it's not likely that I will ever find it useful except for a 20 minute period every day at dawn & dusk. A lithium flashlight is a lot more useful.

    thanks everyone....

    nmeyers, its strictly for target practice, so it's just fun to use sometime. Also, will that adhesive affect the finish of the barrel at all?

    I've never used it on blue steel, so no way to be sure without someone trying it. But, every clamp-on accessory I've used has left some scratches or other marks on the finish, so, if that's a concern, don't take the chance on ANY add-ons or alterations.
