How can I mount a scope on a Win94 w/o drilling?

Did a search and didnt see this question answered. I have a Winchester 30-30 94 and would maybe like to put a scope on it. With the top ejection, is there a mount out there that can be installed without tapping or drilling?

    if it has two small 'plug' screws on the left side of the reciever by the locking block then yes you can. weaver makes a mount that uses these two holes and the large hole by the front of the receiver. check with brownells or midway.

    Thanks, I'll look that up. I inspected it last night, looking for what could be mounting screws and saw those two close together on the left side.

    [?] Does anyone have information on a mount that positions a Long Eye Relief pistol scope forward of the 94 receiver? Not sure if it uses the rear sight dovetail or just clamps to the barrel. If anyone has one, please post here. Thanks

    AO makes one, along with a kickin' set of ghost ring sights. I think Cabelas sells them.

    badwrench: Thanks for the reply. I have looked at Cabela's in the past, without any luck. Ah well, that gives me another excuse to fire up the old Lycoming and journey to the Prairie Du Chien store. Maybe they can order one for me.

    I have 94's in 32 Win Spec, 30 WCF, 38-55, 25-35 and 32-20. I am trying to see what's the best accuracy I can wring out of them with cast bullets. With the eyes going the way of other senior things a scope would help me out. I don't like the offset scope mounts that attach to the receiver, plus not all are drilled for it.

    I know this isn't the solution you want, but I'd locate a good Angle Eject 94. They are pretty reasonably priced and are tapped for a really good weaver base. I have one on my AE-94 and it's held Zero really well for 3 years. I'd just keep your other 94 because under some circumstances you sure can't beat open sights( consider a Williams 5E peepsite which your old 94 is already tapped for) you might actually find it as good as a scope.

    badwrench: Just completed a bit of web searching about the AO scope mount. Looks like a nice system, but...it won't work on the top eject 94, only the AE. I remember reading an article, in either Rifle or Handloader years ago, that showed one mounted to the barrel of a top eject 94. I don't recall if this was some custom made thing or something available commercially at the time.

    Old hickory: Yup, it's not the solution I want. I don't want this for a hunting rifle. I have many of those. I enjoy experimenting with cast bullets, trying to obtain the best possible grouping. I can easily obtain 1"-1?"/50yd groups with aperature sights. My feeling is with a scope, I could shrink that to a consistant 1" or even less. It's kind of like looking for the Holy Grail. The fun is in the searching, but an occasional "finding" lends credence to the search.

    Looks like I'll keep looking or find a good machinist to build me one. Thanks...
