A-bolt in .270
I like Santa, He brought me a new gun, A Browning A-bolt Medallion in .270 Winchester. My questions is what are peoples experiences or opinions of the A-bolt in this chambering? Thanks

My friend has a regular A-Bolt in the caliber. When I shot it it kicked like a mule. I shot a Savage .270 so it may have just been the stock and fit. Well made rifles though. 0 -
I have a White Gold Medallion in .270 and like it alot. The bolt is very smooth and the gun seems to be well made. I did have the trigger worked on to lower the pull weight. My gunsmith put in the Timney 3.5lb spring and worked on the trigger a little. It measured at 2.5lbs when he was through and is very crisp.
I don't shoot a lot so I can't say exactly how accurate this rifle will be. But it seems to shoot pretty close to an 1" at 100 yards with Remington Core Lokt ammo with a flyer here and there that spreads the string to about 1.5". But I don't follow any procedure for testing accuracy so my results are far from scientific.
I have shot Winchester Supreme and Federal Premium through it as well but it didn't seem to shoot enough better at normal hunting range (~100 yds) than Core Lokt to justify the extra expense. Mine doesn't seem to like Hornady Light Magnum 130gr ballistic tip ammo as much as the others.
I am confident the rifle is more accurate than I am. And I'm decent behind the trigger.0 -

When they first came out in the late 80's-early 90's, I bought an A-Bolt Hunter in .270 and it was the best shooting rifle I owned. It would consistently shoot quarter sizes three shot groups at 100yds. I got on some "gota have another caliber" trip and sold the A-Bolt to my cousin about 8yrs ago...one of the dumbest things I've done. After suffering several years of buyers remorse, I now have a composit stalker in 7mm-08. 0 -
I have the A-Bolt 270 in the stainless stalker. I have hunted the mountains and plains of colorado for the last 4 years. The gun has been accurate and durable in the heat as well as the cold. My two cents: Have shot many types of ammunition through this gun and it favors the remington either 130 or 140 grain. [:D] 0 -
I have the Hunter version w/3-9x50 Vari-X II.
Yep,it's got a bit more recoil than the Ruger Mod.77 Mark II that
it replaced,but,I LOVE IT!!
Most accurate deer gun I've ever owned.[^]
