Good Morning and wishing You a Happy New Year, and Welcome to the Ask the Experts Forum and becoming a member of <gunbroker.com>...Looking into My Chrystal Ball I find that CLARK & SCHNEIDER, American Gun Makers, Located at 214 Pratt Street, Baltimore, Md. 1882-84...Black Powder Gun...Not made for Smokeless Powder...In Excellent Condition could be worth Several Thousand Dollars.....Best......

I agree with the good Captn. Definately a US made gun, though Charles Edward Sneider did come from Europe about 1860. He was in business with Clark for a bit over a decade, then in business with his sons Charles Louis and Charles William (must have been fun around the dinner table). Guns are said to have been of high quality, so you are going to need a hands on appraisal from someone really knowledgeable, not the local gunshop guy, to get a good sense of the value of this shotgun. As Captn. Kirk gently alluded, DO NOT put modern shells is this shotgun or the value will quickly plummet to $0 as it blows up in your face, in which case the value may no longer be of concern to you.
